“I commissioned Caroline to paint a piece for me while she was still in Iran. I wasn’t in a rush—because I travel a lot, we agreed that the painting would be delivered at the beginning of the year. Little did we both know that war would break out in Iran. When everything changed, Caroline had to flee the country and left the painting behind. As it turned out, the story of the artwork didn’t end when the canvas was finished—it became something bigger. My painting came with a journey of its own: a beautiful piece traveling from one country to another, until it eventually made its way to the United States. When I finally received it, it was more mesmerizing than I could have imagined. It has become a true centerpiece in my home—the kind of piece people can’t help but notice.
